Schedule
12:00 - 12:30 pm : Introductions
12:30 - 2:00 pm : Presentation of Theory
2:00 - 2:15 pm : Break / Meet downstairs.
2:15 - 5:15 pm : Live Shoot - This shoot is 80% about keeping things clean classy and in good light. We will focus on finding good light in shitty locations, cleaning up the frame then working with the couple for the right expression. Our lighting tools we use here would be to problem solve instead of fighting the light. Feel free to ask me questions during this period, and this section is the foundation of a good photoshoot. A solid professional should be able to do all the things we do in this shoot.
5:15 - 5:30 : Quick Break
5:30 - 8:30 : Live Shoot 2 - Pushing the limits, Off Camera Lights & Creative Compositions this session is about extremes and finding ways to push the limits of our creativity. What I will do here is a culmination of 10 years of learning and trying and failing. This part will probably go by fast and the techniques I use might be confusing — don’t worry about “getting it” right then and there. Find a way to take notes, pictures or video so you can remember and try it later. You will only get these techniques after you do them a bunch of times.
8:30 - 8:45 - Quick Q&A for anyone leaving at this time, others, make your way to Joey’s Eaton Centre.
8:45 : Dinner at Joey’s Eaton Centre (optional) - feel free to join me and pick my brain. Dinner is not included in the price, but feel free to ask me any questions. I will stick around till about 10 PM for anyone who wants to spend the time here.
What to bring / Expectations / Requirements
Bring you camera or just your smart phone to take behind the scenes photos. Bring a notepad and pen for notes, or just use your notes app. The presentation will be up on Patreon in September, with some behind the scenes videos from the class itself. I will give you access to these, just leave me your email address after the class.
If you want you can watch the current set of BTS videos available on patreon to get ahead and ask me more particular Q’s on the day of.
WE WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME DURING THE WORKSHOP TO SIT DOWN AND EAT — please come prepared for this with a belly full. Bring your water, snacks, etc — you will only have enough time to grab a coffee or quick snack during our two 15 minute breaks.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Please show up ready to learn, and check your egos at the door. There is a possibility that some people are behind you in skill and some that are ahead. I will be starting with the foundations and working my way to more advanced stuff, so I can help everyone get what they want. If you are lost at any point, ask me, if I feel that I can answer you without disrupting the flow, I will. I will not tolerate “workshop hijackers”.
Who is a workshop hijacker? You know, that know-it-all dude who thinks he is ready to run the workshop, telling the instructor, “hey why don’t you do it this way?” Or wants to tell everyone how they would do this…I know this person means well, and is very excited and passionate so their passion blinds them from realizing there are 14 other people here to learn something, and paid for that with their hard earned money. I appreciate your passion and excitement, but for the sake of everyone else, please feel free to let me know of your exciting findings, or easter-eggs privately, during the dinner or on a break.
Even if you KNOW something, sometimes it pays to pay attention, because the way someone else has come to the same understanding could be different than yours, and knowing different perspectives enhances your own vision.
The toughest part of the workshop is for me to shoot, pause, show you the photo and continue to build — just be respectful of others and let everyone have a chance to get over my shoulder at least once. And if you are naturally a shy person, please make the effort to get over my shoulder at some point. I want you to get the most out of this also.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me, either my email at divinemethod@gmail.com or 4165278555 - you can whatsapp me.
